Family Record Curator

Who knew? The Trinity Episcopal Certificate of Baptism that I saved along with music and sport awards, documents of health and school progress, and early writings and drawings, is NEEDED in order for my oldest daughter to get married in a Roman Catholic church in Rochester, NY, where she and fiancé are doing their residencies. She isn’t Catholic, and though he was raised Catholic, neither of them have regular schedules or many Sundays off. Plus, they had only just moved to Rochester when they sought a church (to set a date) and learned that they either had to be a member of that particular congregation for at least a year, or pay an inordinate amount to the priest, minister, or church except in this lovely church.

So, yay for me and all family record keepers, the savers of Girl Scout pins and Halloween costumes, the curators of long forgotten stuff! There’s lightness of being in sorted boxes, labeled and stacked in storage facilities.

Suffice it to say, the certificate is going out in today’s mail, so that the priest can record it and ensure that he’s not marrying a pagan in October!
