Happy 2016 and welcome! I started this website to celebrate the wonders and challenges of being a single woman in San Francisco after an unexpected series of losses. What I thought was making me crazy with grief at the time–a newly empty nest compounded by the double whammy of my engagement and my job ending nearly simultaneously–turned out to be the beginning of a much better life.
Of course, I could not sing a happy tune or look on the bright side then! At first, I seemed to go in circles or nowhere, floating without a paddle or sail, almost hoping that I would sink in my loneliness and despair.
But somewhere along the way, after a bike accident (and the surgery and physical therapy that followed), a wedding in Cairo, and an encounter with a terrorist in Paris, I can write a kind of come-back-kid story. My blog explores my ongoing path. My photos express glimpses of light early on, and “Niches, alleys, and all things other” tells the story of how I survived. Thanks for visiting.
